🧭 Choć często mówi się, że to „koniec świata”, w rzeczywistości John O'Groats nie jest najbardziej na północ wysuniętym punktem Wielkiej Brytanii – ten tytuł należy do pobliskiego Dunnet Head. Mimo to to właśnie tutaj kończy (lub zaczyna) się legendarna trasa z Land’s End na południu Anglii – około 1400 kilometrów przygody.

📸 Nazwa miejscowości pochodzi od holenderskiego żeglarza Jana de Groot, który w XVI wieku prowadził prom do Orkadów. Podobno opłata za przeprawę wynosiła jeden grosz – stąd też „O'Groats”.

🌊 Szerokie niebo, dzikie klify i nieprzewidywalna pogoda sprawiają, że to idealne miejsce do uchwycenia nastrojowych kadrów. W czerni i bieli John O'Groats wygląda jeszcze bardziej tajemniczo – zobaczcie sami.

🧭 While often referred to as the northernmost point of mainland Britain, that title actually belongs to nearby Dunnet Head. Still, John O’Groats marks the traditional endpoint of the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats journey – nearly 900 miles of British landscapes from south to north.

📜 The name comes from Jan de Groot, a Dutch ferryman who, in the 15th century, operated a boat to the Orkney Islands. Legend says the fare was one groat – hence the name.
